Theatre Director | Musician | Creative Producer

Martha Kent is a theatre director, musician and creative producer specialising in new musicals, international collaboration and youth theatre.

She is currently developing new work, including Away with the Fairies following its ACE-funded research and development.

Her work consistently engages with international collaboration, spanning from an assistant director role on Púpätko (Jána Palárika Theatre, Slovakia) with the European Theatre Convention, to her recent position as Assistant Producer for Freedom Festival, the region’s largest international arts festival.

Her UK-based assisting credits include Model Village for New Perspectives, Ragtime for the National Youth Music Theatre and Matilda Jr with Buxton Opera House.

Alongside her own projects, Martha works as an Acting and Singing Teacher at Brightlights Theatre School, where she will direct and musically direct their 2025 season. Her commitment to youth theatre is further demonstrated through her work with Nottingham Playhouse, Derby Theatre, Talent 25 and Goole Junction Theatre.

A skilled musical director and singer-songwriter, Martha trained as a Choral Conducting Scholar with Warwick Arts Centre and was part of the Musical Director Mentorship Scheme. She writes her own music, with her debut album to be released soon.
